Colleen Smith
Colleen taught in several school districts in Alaska for 26 years at every grade level from kindergarten through 8th grade.In addition she worked as a schoolwide enrichment teacher to differentiate learning for students who required instruction at a higher level or faster pace.
Along with Kathie, she created an Exploratory Curriculum Model that features hands on, project based elective choices during half the school day for all students grades 1-8. Core content standards are integrated into the afternoon which features science, social studies, the arts and a variety of other curricular strands.
Colleen is finishing up her PhD in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis on future studies and the integration of creative problem solving in classrooms and communities.
Kathie and Colleen share a passion for finding educational solutions that use innovative strategies tailored to specific school communities.

Kathie Weaver
After teaching 10 years in the northwest, Kathie moved to Alaska and taught for 11 years. She then worked as a school administrator for 9 years during which time she created The Peace Room.™
Another of the many creative programs she developed was a successful partnership with a neighboring high school in which junior and senior students partnered with elementary teachers to work in classrooms for high school credit. Many future teachers were cultivated through this partnership.
She also launched an innovative K-8 magnet school that transformed a low performing downtown school into a success.
